LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment)
LMIA (A Labour Market Impact Assessment) is a document that an employer in Canada may need to get before hiring a foreign worker.
An LMIA is a document from Employment and Social Development Canada that gives the employer permission to hire a temporary foreign worker.
A positive LMIA shows that there is a need for foreign worker for a particular job vacancy. It also shows that there is no Canadian or Permanent Resident available for the job at that time.
After the employer gets a LMIA approved, the foreign worker can apply for a Work Permit.
The purpose of the LMIA process is to assess impact of a job offer made to a foreign national on the Canadian labour market.
Different Types of LMIA:
- LMIA to support their Temporary foreign worker’s permanent residency applications
- LMIA to support Temporary foreign worker’s Work Permit Application
- LMIA to support Temporary foreign worker’s Permanent Residence and Work Permit Application
At Xpress Canadian Immigration, we have successfully assisted Canadian employers with LMIA Applications and obtaining positive LMIAs for potential temporary foreign workers.
